A particularly appealing specimen of this classic Frankfurt double taler from the era of the Free City. The Frankfurt eagle is sturdy and intricately detailed, clearly visible in the feathering and in the crown. The surfaces appear harmonious and still show traces of the original mint lustre. The double taler was the largest silver coin of the German Customs Union and is an impressive witness to Frankfurt coin history before 1866.
Condition: Small edge flaw, very nice – fine.
