This pair of working blue ceramic Rosenthal Studio-Linie table lamps, dating from the 1960s and attributed to Bjørn Wiinblad, has sculptural relief decoration and original ivory-coloured shades.
Description from the seller
An important pair of vintage Rosenthal Studio-Linie table lamps, German-made, dating to the 1960s.
The two lamps feature sculpted bases in deep blue glazed ceramic, characterized by stylized relief faces, spiral eyes, and a rich decoration of circular, floral, and geometric motifs.
They are two coordinated but not perfectly identical pieces: the different arrangements of the faces and decorative elements give each lamp its own personality while maintaining a notable overall harmony.
The model is reflected in the international vintage design market, where it is identified as “Blue Face” and attributed to Danish designer Bjørn Wiinblad.
Both ceramics bear on the base the Rosenthal Studio-Linie Germany mark. One of the lamps also preserves the original label of the Rosenthal Chirici dealership, Galleria Cavour 9, Bologna, an interesting testimony of Italian commercial provenance.
The lamps have for several decades belonged to a private family collection.
The pair is complete with the original ivory/écru lampshades and their respective inner diffusers.
Both lamps are functioning, as documented also by the photographs that depict them lit.
Overall condition is good for their age, with normal signs of wear, as documented in the photographs.
The maximum width of the ceramic bases is about 30 cm.
The sale concerns exclusively the pair, complete with the original lampshades.
A decorative ensemble of great character, representative of European ceramic design from the second half of the twentieth century.
