Description from the seller
GINOT DESROIS (Mademoiselle).
VERY RARE astronomical and perpetual calendar, from 1826 to 1874 indicating the day of the month, the days of the week. In Paris, at Bachelier, Béchet the elder. A printed cardboard folio (36 x 36 cm), on which are mounted two movable disks and a ruler, also engraved (supporting paper renewed, browning and rubbing, ruler incomplete and bearing another address). Mobile celestial planisphere, engraved by P. L. Choizeau. Dedicated by the author to King Charles X, it is endowed with multiple functions as it also illustrates the phases of the moon, the position of the sun and the moon in the zodiac for a given day, the rising, the transit across the meridian, the setting of these two celestial bodies and of the stars from the 1st to the 5th magnitude, as well as the main solar eclipses visible in Paris, from 1826 to 1874. We know almost nothing about this young lady Ginot Desrois, who published in the 19th century entertaining works and scientific popularization aimed at young people.
