Achille Boroli, Brunella Barolo 2018, three 0.75 L bottles, with a fully intact metallic capsule and a readable label.
Description from the seller
This wine from a 2.8-hectare monopoly estate located in Castiglione Falletto is praised for its finesse, its aromas of red fruits, balsamic notes, and its very well-controlled Nebbiolo structure, despite a generally more modest vintage.
Aging potential
Barolo Brunella is a grand, structured wine, made from Nebbiolo, built to withstand time. Although the 2018 vintage is generally softer and accessible earlier than the monumental 2016 or 2019, the Brunella cuvée has a beautiful tannic spine.
• Estimated peak: 2026 – 2038
• Current state: The wine is now entering its first phase of full maturity. Its youthful tannins are starting to soften to reveal aromatic complexity (wood scents, balsamic notes, dark fruits).
• Advice: You can already uncork a first bottle to test its evolution (consider decanting 1 to 2 hours beforehand). The other bottles will age nicely over the next ten years if stored in a suitable cellar (stable temperature around 12-14°C and good humidity).
Per bottle, a single bottle of this vintage is currently trading with wine shops and online resellers around €91 to €113 each.
Here are the main notes and scores this wine has received:
• Robert Parker (Wine Advocate): 93+/100
• Wine Spectator: 93/100
• Gardini (Luca Gardini): 97/100
• James Suckling: 91/100 (or 93/100 according to certain tastings)
