Liberty era Art Nouveau decorative fan circa 1890, made of hand-embroidered silk with carved white-lacquered wooden guards, housed in a gilded display frame, in very good condition with minor wear for its age, and measuring 75 cm wide by 45 cm high and 5 cm deep.
Description from the seller
Refined Liberty-style fan in hand-embroidered silk with carved wood, housed in a gilded fan case, Belle Epoque - Art Nouveau, circa 1890. An example of high textile and decorative craftsmanship, it presents itself magnificently preserved inside its original protective display case, semicircular, coeval with the object. The page is made from a finest silk or satin fabric, white in color. There is exceptional, meticulous embroidery executed by hand in a paint-stitch technique.
The asymmetrical decoration is purely floral in taste, depicting with great realism the branches of wild cardoon. The shading of the threads ranges from antique pink to earth tones, with white highlights giving three-dimensionality to the composition. The ribs are white-lacquered wood with visible geometric and floral motifs. The fan is mounted on a dark taut backing that enhances its shape, enclosed in a shaped gilded wooden frame. Classical motifs typical of late 19th-century furnishings.
Excellent overall condition for its age; embroidery and silk intact with original colors. Ribs intact. Worldwide tracked shipping with rigid packaging and insurance.
Measurements: 75 x 45 cm, height 5 cm.
