Two Victorian-style solid silver salt bowls in an octagonal pedestal form, each with a blue glass liner and a matching silver salt spoon, made by Jones & Crompton with Birmingham marks and the 1919 year letter U, total weight 126 g of .925 silver and minor signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Set of silver salt cellars in Victorian style, beautifully 8-sided, standing on a pedestal base, with the original blue glass liners.
There is one silver salt spoon included; this is originally part of the set.
Both pieces bear all English hallmarks:
- Maker's mark J&C = Jones & Crompton (Edward Samuel Jones & Hubert Crompton)
- Left-facing lion passant for English sterling silver
- Birmingham assay mark
- Date letter u for 1919
The salt spoon bears the same marks, only with date letter t for 1918.
Diameter of body: 5.5 cm. / rim and base: 4.5 cm.
Width at the handles: 8.4 cm.
Height at rim: 5.5 cm. / at handles: 6.5 cm.
Length of the salt spoon: 5.5 cm.
Silver weight: 66 g.
Total weight: 126 g.
The silver on both bowls shows signs of use.
One has a few small dents on one side and the other has narrow openings/cracks at the corners, see photos..... of course they can still be used.
Aside from that, they are in good condition, as is the spoon.
They will be well and carefully packaged.
Registered/insured shipping.
Fast shipping, but pickup is also possible.
