Green Chartreuse made by the Carthusian Fathers at their Tarragona distillery (Chartreuse S.A.E., Tarragona, Spain), where production began in 1903 and continued until 1989. A true piece of Chartreuse history, from the period when the bottle capacity was not yet printed on the front label.

After more than 45 years in the bottle, the liqueur shows its natural green colour, with no visible evaporation or oxidation. A great bottle for Chartreuse collectors.

Dating:

Estimated 1978–1980.
The base of the bottle has the concave, indented shape used from 1978 onwards. Earlier bottles had a completely flat base (see photograph of the base).
The Spanish tax strip is of the type used in those years (Hacienda Pública, 8 pesetas, more than ½ litre).
From 1980 onwards, the capacity was printed on the front label.

Condition:

Liquid: excellent colour, high fill level, no evaporation or oxidation. Very slight particles of colouring matter are beginning to form, which is natural at this age.
Label: small losses at the top and bottom edges, due to the ageing of the label material. It is not torn (see close-up photographs).
Tax strip: worn with age, with spots and frayed edges, but not torn (see close-up photographs).
Capsule: perfect, all teeth intact.
