Box - Wood, Bone

Rectangular veneered casket with a chevron parquetry pattern. The lid is adorned with geometric marquetry centered by a medallion engraved with scrolling vines, framed by moldings. The interior is fully lined with red satin capitonnage, both on the base and under the lid. Lock on the front (no key). Bottom covered with black paper.

Very good overall condition, but note that the wood has warped and the box closes with difficulty. Key missing.

French workmanship dating from the Napoleonic III era (19th century).
