Cuba my amor, signed by Xavier Zimbardo, 1st edition English hardcover with dust jacket, 144 pages, published in 2002 by Rizzoli International, New York.
Description from the seller
Signed and dedicated copy on the title page by Xavier Zimbardo (born in 1955). 144 pages and more than a hundred color photographs with captions and miniature reproductions at the end of the book, text in English by Cristina Garcia. Solid orange cloth-bound spine with illustrated dust jacket. In excellent condition, practically like new.
These dated photographs were taken in 2011-2002. Merely mentioning the word “Cuba” conjures up a multitude of ideas and images. One thinks of lively music, energetic dances, sun-warmed Hispanic architecture, cigars, 1950s cars, and Fidel Castro. Xavier Zimbardo stayed in Cuba for several months, exploring this paradoxical island and its inhabitants. With a viewpoint that is at once journalistic and artistic, he captures the very essence of what we associate with Cuba. Through his photographs with vibrant colors, one can almost feel the heat of the sun, hear the laughter and joyful cries of children, and sense the movements of the dancers. These images, however, only convey one aspect of Cuban reality, which has seen the emergence of a two-speed society with a parallel and informal economy tied to international tourism that brings in hard currency.
Xavier Zimbardo lives in the Île-de-France region and since 1989 has dedicated himself to photography. His reports take him to hundreds of countries and his images are published in numerous magazines. His works are preserved in prestigious museums such as the BnF (Bibliothèque nationale de France), the Nicéphore Niépce Museum, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, the Southeast Museum of Photography in Florida, or the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas. In 2002 the Bibliothèque Nationale de France dedicated an exhibition to him and published a book.
Copy in excellent condition, a book from my personal collection kept with the utmost care. Very effectively protected shipping and guaranteed international tracking. In case of multiple purchases, there is a possibility of consolidated shipping with a refund of any excess postage paid via PayPal.
