Description from the seller
Original Venetian dressing mirror made of carved and pierced wood, datable to the 19th century, characterized by a refined decoration in the Rococo and Louis XV taste.
The frame presents a dynamic, wavy multilinear silhouette with elaborate volutes, Rocaille motifs and vegetal decorations, culminating at the top with a rich pierced ornamental element. The workmanship gives it a strongly decorative character and is representative of the Venetian tradition.
The mirror retains the ancient original glass with mercury silvering, characterized by the natural patina and the surface irregularities typical of antique mirrors.
It is presented in conditions commensurate with its age, with patina and normal signs of time. Over the years, some small non-professional repair interventions have been carried out, including the gluing of a few small wooden parts; these interventions are visible mainly on the back and are kept as part of the object's conservation history.
The dressing mirror is offered as a nineteenth-century Venetian production in Louis XV style, without attribution to a specific workshop.
