Figurine - Zeldzame Set van 3 Vintage Kokeshi Poppen (Ejiko) – Kobayashi Makoto (Yamagata) – Japan – (3) - Wood

A beautiful and rare set of three traditional Japanese Kokeshi dolls, fully handmade and painted by the respected master craftsman Kobayashi Makoto (小林 誠)

The set has a charming height of 13 cm and contains two rarer dolls in the beloved Ejiko style (the rounded 'roly-poly' models).
The Ejiko style symbolizes a baby lying safely in a woven basket, a traditional motif from the Tōhoku region. The middle doll is a classic slim model.

All three dolls are hand-signed at the bottom by the maker:
• Left doll (Ejiko): Featuring the regional inscription 山形 (Yamagata) and the full signature 小林 誠 作 (Made by Makoto Kobayashi). Additionally, this doll includes a unique, handwritten celebratory inscription "祝 誠太郎" (In honor of Seitarō), which gives this piece an extra historical and unique character for collectors.
• Middle doll: Signed with 誠 作 (Made by Makoto) in a decorative circle.
• Right doll (Ejiko): Featuring the distinctive flowing signature 誠 (Makoto).
The dolls are beautifully decorated with refined facial expressions and traditional floral motifs.

Condition: In very good vintage condition. Nicely preserved paint pigments and an authentic patina that suits the age. See the photos for an accurate impression of the excellent condition.
