Description from the seller

Up for auction is an authentic archive masterpiece of fashion and avant-garde design from the nineties. This extraordinary collectible art object was conceived and signed by the renowned Japanese designer Koji Tatsuno and dates to the year 1991. It is a sophisticated three-dimensional geometric structure designed according to the complex construction technique defined as puzzle-purse or modular origami. The object is composed of a series of rigid triangular cardboard panels that open and close fluidly, transforming from a compact geometric form into a spectacular stellar silhouette entirely decorated with the designer's own graphics and conceptual texts.

At the center of this splendid composition stands the iconic fluid red heart motif. This particular visual element possesses extraordinary historical significance as it is the original artwork that directly inspired the legendary cover of the alternative rock album Last Splash released by the American band The Breeders in 1993. The absolute peculiarity of this lot lies in its extreme rarity and exclusivity in the international market. The object belongs to a strictly limited edition of only 300 numbered pieces worldwide, and this specific piece bears the number 216 hand-printed on the back along with the artist's official authenticity mark.

The entire set also includes its luxurious original rigid protective case, externally clad in deep, luxurious black velvet. On the back of this elegant presentation box is hot-stamped the legendary official mark reading Koji Tatsuno 03 93, certifying the authenticity of the art collection.

The object presents in overall good vintage condition. The velvet of the external box preserves intact its vintage charm, and the entire internal folding mechanism of the cardboard segments is perfectly functioning, sturdy and free of structural tears, keeping the colors sharp and bright as in original. The light and natural signs of aging on the corners simply underscore its authentic archive status.
