Manuscript from 1757, Jerez de la Frontera, Spain; an original Real Ejecutoria of King Fernando VI on the oil-mill tax dispute, 61 pages, 31 by 22 cm, in Spanish, Bien Conservada BC.
Description from the seller
Year 1757, Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz (Spain). Royal Executory of King Ferdinand VI – Lawsuit of Oil Mills and the Millions Tax – Ponce de León
Exceptional and extensive (61 pages) original judicial manuscript issued in Jerez de la Frontera in 1757, witnessed and signed by the chamber scribe of His Majesty the King on official stamped paper of Fernando VI.
Contains the full transcript of the Royal Executory won in the Supreme Council of Hacienda (Millons Chamber) at the request of Mr. Francisco Ponce de León, relating to the historic dispute between the city and the Royal Treasury over the apportionments and auditing of accounting books in the oil mills for the collection of the Millions tax (one of the most important indirect taxes on consumption and production in the Old Regime).
Also, in the inserted text are the royal formulas of Ferdinand VI directed to the Royal Chancillería (of Granada), Chief Chancellor and His Majesty’s chamber scribes.
A legal and economic piece of great interest for the history of Andalusian olive groves, 18th-century taxation, the Jerez nobility, and the Royal Chancillería. Good preservation and magnificent notarial signs and fiscal seals of the period.
Excellent piece, original from its time and carefully selected.
No reserve price. Great opportunity.
