Fossilised woolly rhinoceros vertebra (Coelodonta antiquitatis) from the Late Pleistocene, found in the North Sea; natural condition, 16 × 16 × 8 cm, from the Netherlands, authentic/original.
Description from the seller
Fossil of the woolly rhinoceros
Here is a very unique piece, a dorsal vertebra from a woolly rhinoceros
This is offered rarely and you don’t see it very often
After the last Ice Age, the steppe wisent, mammoth, and woolly rhinoceros disappeared definitively
This beautiful vertebra is desalinated and still in clean water; everyone preserves it in their own way, and I’m happy to leave that to the next owner
Doggerland no longer exists, but traces of it can still be found on the beaches of the North Sea. It happens regularly that walkers, enthusiasts and researchers find something special there
Also, wonderful treasures like this part of a woolly rhinoceros as well. Even on dredged sand flats and in fishing nets bones are brought to the surface, such as this one in the summer of 2024
