AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Narrow console in carved wood - Neorenaissance style, c. 1880–1910.

Elegant wall console, probably French production, executed in carved wood with a reddish-brown tone.

Features a cut top over a small drawer, the central stem in the form of a cartouche profusely carved with foliage, flowers, scrolls and large volutes. It rests on a molded base, likewise carved, incorporating a second drawer. Both have circular pulls in yellow metal. Flat back, suitable for placing against a wall.

The architectural composition and ornamental repertoire place the piece within the historicist Neorenaissance taste, with influence from the Henri II style, quite widespread in French furniture of the late 19th century. There are parallels in walnut French consoles of this period, characterized by pronounced moldings, drawers and carved supports.
