Description from the seller
Portuguese dining room set in wood, marble and cane - sideboard with display cabinet, table and 8 chairs - 1890–1920.
Imposing dining room set of Portuguese production, dating from the late 19th century to the early 20th century, executed in historicist style inspired by neorenaissance, with influence from the Henri II style.
The set consists of a monumental sideboard with display cabinet, an oval dining table and eight corresponding chairs.
The sideboard presents a large architectural structure, in dark brown wood, with framed elements, turned columns and carved decoration. The lower part integrates two central doors and several side drawers, topped by a light marble top with natural veining. The upper part features a central glass-doored display cabinet with glass doors, glass shelves and a back fully paneled with mirrors. On the sides there are two open display spaces, framed by turned columns and wood panels.
The table features a large oval top in light marble, marked by expressive veining in gray, black and brown hues. It rests on a solid wooden base, with turned and carved supports, joined by a longitudinal crosspiece. The generous dimensions comfortably accommodate eight or more people.
The eight chairs have a wooden frame, high backrest with pillars, turned finials and carving on the front face only. The backrests and seats are upholstered with woven cane. The front legs are turned.
A striking ensemble with monumental proportions, suitable for a classic dining room, historic residence, manorial house, hotel, interior design project or antique furniture collection.
