ABSOLUTE RARITY - Grand Reliquary Crest in Quartz Crystal and Gold Filigree - Intact Episcopal Chancellery Seal – Elite Sacred Art, 18th Century
Masterpiece of sacred art from the 18th century intended for high private devotion. This piece of exceptional rarity stands out for its reliquary entirely carved from a block of quartz crystal (natural quartz) with faceted edges. The crystal is set in a sumptuous bronze mount richly gilded, adorned with remarkable goldsmithing work in twisted wire filigree and Baroque scrolls. At the center, beneath the crystal, there is a cross (containing the relic) on a background of hand-painted heraldic coats of arms. Unviolated and certified original: The back retains its silk threads sealed with a very large red wax seal of ecclesiastical chancery intact (depicting three holy figures enthroned under architecture). The reliquary has never been opened.
