Elegant 19th‑century French jewel box from Paris, made of mahogany and amboina with a geometric parqueterie veneer and gilt bronze mounts, featuring five cameos.
Description from the seller
An exceptionally refined French jewelry box from the 19th century, signed Alphonse Giroux, Paris.
This luxurious, regal jewelry box is crafted from mahogany and ebony wood and features a beautiful geometric veneer pattern (parqueterie). The elegant design and high-quality finish reflect the exceptional craftsmanship of the Parisian luxury ateliers of the first half of the 19th century.
Particularly striking are the five richly detailed cameos, each with a finely worked classical scene. The cameos are framed by graceful gilt-bronze mounts, which form a beautiful contrast with the warm wood.
The interior of the lid is equipped with a faceted mirror, while the removable compartments provide a practical and refined layout for storing jewelry and valuables.
Alphonse Giroux (1776–1848)
The famous Parisian house Alphonse Giroux was known for its exclusive luxury goods, refined furniture, and special works of art. The atelier enjoyed prestige among the French aristocracy and affluent clientele.
The signature of Alphonse Giroux, combined with the high-quality materials, the classical decorations, and the exceptional finish, makes this jewelry box a particularly attractive collectible.
An elegant and decorative example of French luxury from the 19th century, suitable for both a high-end antique collection and a classic or contemporary interior.
