Oshin, son of Levon II, came to the throne of Cilician Armenia after the Mongol general Bilarghu murdered his brother Hetoum II and nephew Levon III at Anazarbus in 1307. He defeated Bilarghu and drove him from Cilicia, and the Ilkhan Öljeitü supported his accession. Like Hetoum II, he favoured union of the Armenian and Roman churches in the hope of European aid against the Mamluks, causing discontent at home. He died in 1320, reputedly poisoned, and was succeeded by his young son Levon IV.
