Leather chair with an oak wood frame in cognac brown, Italian Mid-Century Modern design, circa 1970–1980, dimensions 80 × 48 × 48 cm, in good used condition.
Description from the seller
Affascinante dining chair (or desk chair) of high Italian craftsmanship dating from the 1970s. The seat design fits perfectly within the rationalist and structural thread of Italian modern design of the era, recalling in its lines and choice of materials the famous contemporaneous projects by great design masters (such as Afra and Tobia Scarpa’s Monk series or Silvio Coppola’s creations).
The chair is characterized by a solid architectural frame in solid wood with warm honey tones, combined with protruding cylindrical sections that soften its rigorous geometry. The seat and backrest are made from a single piece of sturdy cognac-colored full-grain leather, mounted on the frame using an original era-specific fixing system with side joints and visible pins.
A piece of character, solid and of great visual impact, ideal for completing spaces in Mid-Century Modern, Industrial, or Minimalist style.
Details and Condition:
• Period: 1970s (Around 1970–1979)
• Country of production: Italy
• Materials: Solid wood, full-grain leather, technical joinery inserts.
• Marks/Signatures: No visible marks or labels (vintage manufacture attributed to the Italian furniture excellence districts of the era).
• Condition: Generally good vintage condition appropriate for the age and use of the piece. The wooden frame is solid, stable, and structurally integral. The original leather preserves a beautiful, authentic patina of the time that enhances its vintage charm; it shows slight and normal surface marks, halos and wear patinas on the backrest (as visible in the detailed photos), which attest to the piece’s history without compromising its robustness and functionality.
