Description from the seller

Here is a splendid, rare and historically monumental vintage subminiature camera for glass plates: the Gaumont Block-Notes, produced in Paris in the very early 1910s.

The lot presents in generally good vintage condition, mechanically functional, and is complete with its original lens block and the rear satin-finished metal plate loader.

Optics: The lenses appear clean, structurally sound, and completely free of scratches or traces of mold or internal fungus; only a normal, widespread and light vintage patina due to age is evident, entirely expected for a piece of this age.

Mechanical: The lot is mechanically operable in manual mode. The ingenious and primitive guillotine shutter responds to commands, firing reliably when operated. The characteristic rectangular front optical viewfinder, hinged to the panel, opens correctly and is movable. The unlocking and telescopic extension of the bellows occur smoothly up to the end-of-travel click. The film advance mechanism and the rear loader selectors also respond to manipulation.

Aesthetic: Good general vintage condition, as clearly documented by the photographs. The solid, robust alloy case in browned metal preserves a strong period look, showing the classic signs of wear, slight opacifications and a magnificent historical patina from rubbing at protruding points, which reveals the underlying brass.

Tracked international shipping, fully insured and with highly protective professional packing to ensure maximum safety during transport.
