AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

RARE MODEL IN THIS SIZE (85 cm) AND THIS QUALITY

A mahogany scale model magnificently varnished (multi-layer poly-gloss finishes) with superb detailing (MUSEUM-QUALITY).

Fully mounted on its base, the hull is made of mahogany with a wooden frame; the numerous metal components of the original boat are faithfully reproduced on this collectors’ model, entirely manufactured and assembled by hand by the Marine Azimut workshop. Wood slats are joined with brass nails on a wooden/metal skeleton, resin composite.

The fittings are made of copper, brass and mild steel precisely adjusted. All metal cuts are made either manually by seasoned specialists or by laser-cutting or casting.

The cabin is upholstered in leather.

The multi-layer poly-gloss varnish catches the light, revealing the depth, elegance and design of the hull.

The quality and dimensions perfectly reproduce the streamlined profile of this runabout racing boat.
A VERY BEAUTIFUL PIECE WITHOUT FLAWS

U-10 America embodies the Golden Age of water-speed records, designed in 1932 by Gar Wood, who was also a captain holder of multiple records. The hull of this hydroplane is intended to minimize drag, enriched by a spectacular Packard powertrain designed for performance and power.
In 1932, Gar Wood quickly wins the Harmsworth Trophy, establishing a new world record at 200 km/h (124.9 mph).
In a context of intense technological rivalry, U-10 establishes itself from 1932 as a benchmark of raw power in the history of water speed racing.
