AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pair of Gongfu Cha tea cups 'Millefleurs' Rosa Family on Yellow and Turquoise grounds, interior and base Celadon - Yongzheng Yu Zhi mark - Late Qing Dynasty / Republic Period

Rare assortment of tasting cups for the tea ceremony (Gongfu Cha) in fine porcelain, richly hand-painted with polychrome enamels of the Rosa Family (Fencai).
The external decoration features the iconic densely packed 'Millefleurs' motif (Wan Hua Ju - Mille Fiori), a symbol of prosperity and blessing. The cups display the two most celebrated and sought-after color variants among collectors: one on a bright turquoise ground and one on the precious Imperial Yellow ground.
The refined craftsmanship is distinguished by the use of double glaze: the interior of the cup and the entire hollow of the outer base are completely coated with a delicate light Celadon glaze (Dongqing) with vitreous luster. This inner finish was specially designed to enhance the nuances and color of the tea infusion.
Dimensions: Height 5 cm, Diameter 6.5 cm each.

Mark: On the bottom of both, a four-character blue underglaze square seal: Yongzheng Yu Zhi (雍正御製).

Condition: in good condition.
