Description from the seller
Set Oliera "Ménage" Complete in 800 Silver and Hand-cut Crystal - Vicenza, post-1968?
Description:
Refined and complete vintage table service for condiments ("ménage"), consisting of 5 pieces in hand-cut crystal and a solid silver support tray. The set stands out for its excellent state of preservation and the richness of details, ideal for collectors of Italian silverware or to adorn an elegant table.
The service is structured to optimize space on the silver tray and is composed of:
* 2 oil and vinegar decanters with a square-based body and a central geometric diamond motif.
* 2 original crystal stoppers with full-cut facets and a ground base for an airtight seal.
* 2 crescent-shaped coordinate bowls (salt and pepper) that fit perfectly around the decanters.
Details of Makers' Marks and Certifications:
The tray bears on the edge the official marks of the Italian State:
* The silver fineness mark "800", guaranteeing the metal purity (800 thousandths).
* The maker identification mark enclosed in an elongated lozenge with a star, containing the initials "VI" (Vicenza), locating the production in the renowned Vicentine gold and silver district from 1968 onward.
* A second circular mark impressed with the logo of the original artistic manufacture, depicting a naturalistic symbol of a tree/leaves.
Technical Specifications and Features
* Tray material: Solid 800 silver
* Container material: Hand-cut crystal with diamond-cut facets
* Weight of the silver tray alone: 170 grams (net, excluding glass components)
* Era / Period: Vintage (Second half of the 20th century, post-1968)
* Likely origin: Vicenza, Italy
* Total pieces: 5 (1 silver tray + 2 decanters + 2 crescent salt/pepper bowls. The stoppers are considered an integral part of the decanters).
Condition of the Item
* Overall condition: Good vintage overall condition, commensurate with age and use.
* Crystal details: The bodies of the decanters and the two crescent bowls are intact, clear, and free of chips or external cracks. Noted is a light and normal wear from contact on the lower frosted edge of the crystal stopper (the part inserted into the neck of the decanter); this is due to natural use over time, is not visible when the stopper is seated, and does not affect the seal.
* Silver details: The tray retains a splendid luster and shows the typical micro-patina surface from cleaning. For complete transparency, a small, light dent is noted localized on the inner rim profile of the dish (clearly visible in the close-up photos). The object remains structurally sound and stable in its resting position, and the imperfection is partially concealed once the crystal containers are in place.
