Consulate / Early Empire Period (1803-1809)
A charming and early French silver box dating from the Consulate and early Empire period, Paris, circa 1803-1809.
This finely crafted circular box is decorated with elegant hand-engraved ornamentation. The lid features a central floral rosette surrounded by radiating motifs and geometric borders, reflecting the refined neoclassical taste of the Napoleonic era. The piece bears French silver hallmarks including the rooster mark for second standard silver (800/1000) together with Paris guarantee marks used during the first years of the 19th century.
Originally intended as a mouche, patch box, snuff box or small personal container, it is a delightful example of French silversmithing from the Consulate and early Empire period.
