Description from the seller

Golden Eucharistic paten in metal – Mystic Lamb – 1879 – Dedication inscription

Beautiful ancient Eucharistic paten in gilded metal, dated 1879, featuring an ingenious central, hinged lid device designed to protect a small circular cavity.

The lid, of a multi-lobed shape, is finely engraved on its inner face with a representation of the Mystic Lamb (Agnus Dei), standing on a mound, bearing the banner of the Resurrection, beneath rays of light emanating from a cloud.

Its outer face bears the sacred monogram IHS, surmounted by a cross and accompanied by the three nails of the Passion.

A hinge and a small clasp allow the central compartment to open and close.

On the reverse side is an engraved dedication inscription:

“PAST. SCHRÖDER AD Sᵐ ALOYSIUM JSERLOHN 1879”

This inscription refers to a pastor or ecclesiastical figure named Schröder, to Saint Louis of Gonzaga (Sanctus Aloysius), and to the German town of Iserlohn in Westphalia.

Origin: Germany, Iserlohn (Westphalia).
Period: 1879, last quarter of the 19th century.
Material: Gilded metal, exact composition to be determined.

Condition: Good overall condition, with light superficial scratches and signs of use in keeping with its age. Bright gilding, engravings well preserved.

The photos are an integral part of the object description and complement its presentation. Please examine them carefully before any commitment.

The item will be carefully boxed and shipped with a tracking number to ensure fast and secure delivery.
