AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

A beautiful Nazca single-spout jug or bottle. The ancient Nazca culture in modern day Peru was known for its fine polychrome pottery. Nazca produced pottery that often related to the worship of supernatural beings who assured agricultural success. The abstract mythological figures that appear on the upper register of this jug are most likely connected to these religious beliefs. A line of female heads (with sideburns) around the vessel may be a symbolic representation of the earth. On the handle a geometrical design, most likely step motifs as a representation of mountains, temples or thrones.
