Ceramic glazed decorative vase from the Fritte series, designed by Aldo Londi for Bitossi (Italy) around 1960, in Mid‑Century Modern style, featuring yellow, blue and brown colours, with dimensions 15 cm wide, 47 cm high, 15 cm deep, weighing 5.7 kg, and in good used condition with minor signs of age and stains.
Description from the seller
Decorative ceramic vase from the “Fritte” series, created by Aldo Londi for Bitossi pottery, circa 1960.
The 'fritte vitree' technique involved embedding molten glass onto polychrome glazes and porous surfaces, creating novel tactile and chromatic effects.
The front features a raised decoration of rectangular panels arranged vertically and framed by an intense blue glaze. The inner surfaces of the panels display ochre and beige tones, with visible craquelure that gives the decoration a tactile, material appearance.
The side and back surfaces have an ochre to brown finish, with color irregularities and dark spots that create contrast with the blue front.
The dark spots are probably the result of a later reworking.
The top consists of a vertical rectangular, hollow element open at the top, as visible in the photographs.
On the bottom there is the handwritten marking “1129/55, Italy”.
Material: glazed ceramic.
The item is sold as is, without a certificate of authenticity or documentation related to the producer.
The photographs are an integral part of the description and allow assessment of the object's aesthetic characteristics and condition.
