Large circular service plate in cut crystal and sterling silver 1st titre, by Orfèvre Maillard (France), diameter 25.5 cm, weight 817 g, excellent condition with a small surface scratch on the glass and two minor micro-dents on the silver rim.
Description from the seller
Grand crystal-cut and sterling silver serving platter, first quality - Maillard Silversmith
Elegant and large circular serving under-plate (or platter). The central part is made of crystal (or strong glass) blown and molded, adorned with a superb sunburst pattern cut to diamond points, offering magnificent reflections in the light.
The transparent base subtly reveals the furniture or tablecloth on which it rests.
The rim is set in a sober, understated mount in first-quality sterling silver, which perfectly highlights the purity of the piece.
Marks and hallmarks on the rim:
• Guarantee mark: Minerva’s head with the number 1 (Sterling silver 950/1000).
• Silversmith’s mark: Partial lozenge mark of Maillard Silversmithing (Paris, punch struck in 1905), recognizable by the initials O M surrounded by a mallet.
Dimensions & Weight
• Total diameter: 25.5 cm
• Total gross weight: 817 grams (including crystal and mount)
Condition:
• Crystal/Glass: Overall good condition. Presence of a small superficial scratch on the surface of the glass (see dedicated macro photo), with no impact on the piece’s solidity and very little visible when in use.
• Silver mount: Very good shine. Note two small traces/minor dings on the contour of the silver rim (visible in profile photos), quite normal and consistent with the age and use of the object.
