The attached chain with finger ring is a particularly refined feature.
It was designed to be slipped over a finger and worn on top of silk or kid gloves, allowing the case to be used discreetly and safely without removing the gloves — a detail typical of Edwardian and early interbellum accessories.

Henry Clifford Davis was an established Birmingham silversmith active in the early 20th century, best known for producing high-quality small silver objects such as vesta cases, card cases and personal accessories. His work is appreciated for its solid craftsmanship, practical elegance and refined proportions.
