Description from the seller
Russian Silver Bonbon Basket with Gilt Interior – 875 Silver – Leningrad Assay Office – USSR – ca. 1960–1980
An elegant Russian solid silver bonbon basket crafted in 875 silver, bearing the official Soviet hallmark with the star, hammer and sickle, together with the 875 fineness mark and the Leningrad assay office mark.
The basket stands gracefully on three feet and features a beautifully shaped scalloped rim decorated with refined scroll motifs. A movable swing handle with spherical terminals completes the elegant design. The interior has been richly gilded (vermeil), creating a beautiful contrast with the polished silver exterior while traditionally protecting the silver surface from food acids.
Originally intended for serving chocolates, Caviar , sugar cubes, confectionery or small delicacies, today it also makes an attractive decorative object or centerpiece.
Russian silver from the Soviet period has become increasingly sought after thanks to its excellent craftsmanship, substantial silver content and distinctive historical hallmarks.

Very good vintage condition with normal signs of age and careful use. Minor surface scratches are visible to the gilt interior, mainly on the base, consistent with use. No significant dents or repairs. Please examine the photographs carefully as they form an integral part of the description.
