FISCAL RARE ON THE COVER: "LONG MAY IT RULE THE REIGN OF HIS MAJESTY SIR DON CARLOS IV" (1789)
Document issued on the First Seal of 544 Maravedís of the year 1789 (the highest and rarest fiscal category of the era). What it is: Official notarized transcription of a deed of partition of inheritance and lands (1779-1780) of the Estella-Castellví family, registered in the Barcelona Mortgage Office.
Historical toponymy of Barcelona: Of great local interest; describes estates, houses and boundaries in Sarrià, Pedralbes and Vallvidrera, mentioning the Royal Monastery of Pedralbes, the Convent of Santa Eulalia and the old Royal Way (Camí Real).
Three Notarial Signs (Signum Tabellionis): The manuscript’s closing preserves three artistic notarial signs drawn by hand in iron gall ink by notaries of the Royal College of Barcelona.
Language: Written mainly in Catalan, with opening and closing notarial formulas in Latin, and the fiscal stamp and mortgage registry in Spanish.
Length and medium: Complete booklet on laid parchment paper (hilo/tina) with 16 handwritten pages + blank concluding leaves.
