Keichousaurus hui, a nicely preserved enhanced juvenile specimen from the Early Triassic Falang–Huxia Formation in Guanglin, Guizhou, China, with original/official authenticity.
Description from the seller
Scientific name: Keichousaurus hui, Young 1958 (marine reptile Pachypleurosauridae family)
Location: Guanglin, Guizhou Province of China
Geological Formation: Falang - Huxia Formation
Age: Early Triassic (~242 million years ago)
Size: 5,1 cm - Matrix: 9,3 cm x 7 cm x 0,7 cm
Ref: J1012
Observations: This juvenile Keichousaurus hui specimen is generally very well preserved, with most of its original fossil structures remaining in excellent condition.
The vertebral column, articulations, forelimbs, and much of the ribs and tail show very good preservation.
The skull is the most extensively restored area, with visible repairs and painted details used to enhance the presumed original contours of the fossil. Also the right leg seems to be quite restored and enhaced.
Minor retouching is also present on both hind limbs and some small skeletal elements.
Overall, this is an attractive juvenile specimen with excellent preservation throughout most of the skeleton, despite the more significant restoration of the skull. The matrix has as well some glued fractures.
Keichousaurus hui is a small marine reptile from the Triassic of southern China. A member of the Pachypleurosauridae family, with a long neck, paddle-like limbs, and a slender tail, adapted for swimming in shallow marine environments. Fossils, often found in black shale, reveal a diet of small fish and invertebrates, inferred from its needle-like teeth.
All of our fossils come with a Certificate of Authenticity. Every week, the issued Certificates of Authenticity are updated in our database verification system on our website. If you find that your certificate has not yet been updated, please contact us and we will update it immediately. Display box not included.
