Description from the seller
Badonviller – Six plates with a geometric Art Deco decoration – France, circa 1930s–1940s – Ø 21 cm
A motif that seems to anticipate contemporary taste: crimson-bordeaux and powder blue geometric bands intertwine along the rim, forming a dynamic frame around the ivory-colored center. The soft color gradients meet the rigor of angular shapes, creating a bold, personality-rich contrast.
Six plates from the French production Badonviller, a name tied to the ceramic tradition of Lorraine, capable of uniting the charm of old-fashioned dining with a graphic design still surprisingly current.
The motif, with an airbrushed effect, evokes the language of Art Deco and makes the whole particularly interesting to display in a hutch or to pair with a minimalist table setting. On the back is the Badonviller France stamp, with the pattern name legible as “Liliane.”
The diameter of 21 cm is a smart, versatile measure, balanced in proportion: ideal for accompanying a full meal, from hors d’oeuvres to dessert, including first courses, second courses, and main courses. A single format to interpret freely according to the menu and the occasion.
Quantity: 6 plates.
Diameter: 21 cm each.
Indicative era: 1930s–1940s.
Overall good condition, with evident signs of age: enamel nibbling, scratches and traces of use, speckling and yellowing, visible in the photos. A pronounced patina that should be considered part of the conservation state of the set.
A characterful proposal for those who love French ceramics, geometric decorations, and objects that visibly preserve their own history.
