Val Saint Lambert sommerso crystal centerpiece in raspberry pink with wings, ca. 1950–1970, measuring 13 cm high, 58 cm long and 21 cm wide, weighing 2360 g, with a raspberry pink core under clear crystal and a non-signed attribution to Val Saint Lambert, Belgium.
Description from the seller
A distance of eighty-five centimeters from point to point and 2360 grams of solid crystal: this centerpiece carries an entire feast table. A raspberry-pink core lies beneath a thick layer of clear crystal, the sommerso technique. Two wings extend long, two short points curl inward at the sides. When lit from behind, the raspberry-pink glows deep in the bowl, while the clear edges catch the light.

Description:
A deep oval bowl sits on a compact, pinched foot with a serrated edge. Two wings extend horizontally from the bowl to a pointed tip. On the long sides there are two short points that curl inward. The color is deepest in the bowl and fades to clear at the points. Everything was drawn from one mass in heat. The underside is hollow-cut and polished.
About the maker:
Val Saint Lambert has been working in Seraing on the Meuse since 1825. Around 1900 the factory produced up to 160,000 pieces a day, nine-tenths for export. From 1948 to 1965 René Delvenne designed organic shapes there with Italian glassblowers in heavy, unpolished crystal with a core of color. This centerpiece belongs to that postwar line.
In the interior:
In the middle of a long dining table, under a low lamp, the raspberry-pink glows in the bowl and the clear wings catch the light.

Condition:
Good. Bowl, wings, side points and foot: no chips, cracks or restorations observed. Light irregularities from the hot draw are typical production characteristics of mouth-blown crystal. The polished window under the foot is intact. See the photos.
