Description from the seller
Beautiful, fully complete antique wooden Pasochnitsa. At the Russian- Orthodox church this is a traditional, collapsible form of a truncated pyramid for making Pascha, a Easter dish based on quark.
The form consists of four wooden panels (15.5x15.5x6 cm) that are joined together by an authentic pin-and-hinge system. With original brass/copper hinges, mounted with old slot grooves. On the inside you can see the historical signs of use. The original metal pins are present and functional. In very good condition with a beautiful patina on the wood.
High-quality, artisanal craftsmanship from the early 20th century.
Of the four panels, two bear the Orthodox cross, the other two bear the letters XB, in mirror image so that the letters appear correctly on the quark cake. XB stands for Christos Voskres (Christ is risen).
The form is in authentic, very good condition, no damage or splinters/cracks/tears...
Remarkable religious folk art, interesting for collectors of Orthodox objects or of antique kitchenware.
Of course your purchase will be carefully and securely packed and shipped promptly.
