Ancient Egypt Serpentine bust ushabti fragment from the Saite Period (664–525 BC), measuring 11 cm high by 6.5 cm wide by 5 cm deep, in good condition and authentic original, acquired in 1980 from Spain.
Description from the seller
Ancient Egypt, amazing fragment corresponding to a bust of an ushebty carved in serpentine. Ushebtis were funerary statuettes used in Ancient Egypt to accompany the deceased on their journey to the afterlife, performing tasks on their behalf. This bust, although incomplete, preserves details that reflect the craftsmanship of the time. We can see the crossed arms and the objects it holds, indicative of its funerary function and symbolism. The piece has hieroglyphic inscriptions on the lower part, which, although worn, suggest the name and titles of the deceased. Belonging to the Saite Period (664-525 BC), this piece stands out for its state of preservation, which allows us to appreciate the facial features and the quality of the serpentine used. Despite its fragmentation, the ushebty continues to transmit the presence and solemnity that was sought in this type of funerary figures. Dimensions: 11 x 6.5 x 5 cm / 20.5 cm high with stand.
Conditions: Good state of preservation as shows the pictures.
Acquired from a Spanish private collection, F.C.B in the 70's.
-The piece includes an authenticity certificate.
