Description from the seller
Vintage Female Mannequin Bust – Sculptural Space Age Design – 1970s–1980s
Striking and highly decorative vintage female mannequin bust, dating approximately from the 1970s–1980s, originally designed for professional fashion boutiques, wig displays and shop-window presentations.
Standing an impressive 56 cm high, this remarkable mannequin is distinguished by its exceptionally elegant proportions, dramatically elongated neck and beautifully sculpted silhouette.
The long, slender neck flows gracefully into stylised shoulders and an unusual architectural base, creating a striking sculptural composition that goes far beyond the appearance of a conventional mannequin head.
The beautifully modelled female face features remarkable bright green eyes with intricate iris detailing, finely painted dark eyebrows, sophisticated smoky eye make-up and softly glossy pink lips.
Her delicate facial features, expressive gaze and elegant proportions give the mannequin a particularly refined and glamorous appearance, reminiscent of European fashion displays from the 1970s and early 1980s.
Sculptural Design & Distinctive Features
One of the most fascinating characteristics of this example is its extraordinary elongated silhouette.
The graceful neck, sweeping asymmetrical shoulders and flowing integrated base create an almost abstract, sculptural form, reflecting the aesthetic influences of Space Age, Pop Art and late twentieth-century modernist design.
The unusual curved pedestal base is particularly attractive, providing both stability and a strong architectural presence.
Unlike conventional mannequin heads, this is a substantial full-bust display that can also be appreciated as a decorative design object in its own right.
The head is completely removable and fits onto the original mounting mechanism positioned at the top of the neck. This construction is clearly documented in the photographs.
Original Condition & Preservation
The mannequin is preserved in very good vintage condition, retaining its authentic original finish and beautifully preserved facial decoration.
The striking green eyes, painted eyebrows, eye make-up and glossy lips remain particularly attractive.
The surface shows minor signs of age and previous professional use, including occasional light marks and small imperfections, consistent with its vintage character.
The original construction seams are visible in certain areas, as shown in the detailed photographs.
The mannequin has not been unnecessarily restored or refinished, preserving its authentic appearance and original character.
The bust stands securely on its distinctive sculptural base, while the removable head fits onto the neck mounting system.
A Decorative Fashion & Design Collectible
Originally intended for the presentation of wigs, hats, scarves, jewellery and fashion accessories, vintage mannequins of this kind are also appreciated today as decorative objects associated with twentieth-century fashion and visual merchandising.
With its captivating green eyes, elegant facial modelling, extraordinarily elongated neck and sculptural silhouette, this example would make an impressive statement piece in a vintage or contemporary interior.
Particularly suitable for a fashion boutique, designer atelier, photography studio, dressing room, fashion exhibition or private collection of vintage decorative objects.
Its unusual proportions and sophisticated expression make it equally attractive displayed on its own, without additional accessories.
