Description from the seller
IRAQ. 5 Fils. 1981.
- Value: 5 Fils.
- Year: 1981 (1401 AH).
- Inscriptions: Obverse: الجمهورية العراقية (Republic of Iraq), ٥ فلوس (5 Fils), with two crossed ears of grain at the bottom. Reverse: ١٤٠١ - ١٩٨١, with three date palm trees over an agricultural landscape.
- Grade: MS67 (PCGS).
Coin of 5 Fils issued by the Republic of Iraq in 1981, during Saddam Hussein's government, characterized by its distinctive multi-lobed shape and its agriculture-inspired design. The obverse presents the denomination at the center surrounded by Arabic inscriptions and two crossed ears of grain, symbols of cereal production and the country’s agricultural wealth. The reverse depicts three date palms over a cultivated landscape, evoking Mesopotamia’s fertility and the historical importance of agriculture in the region. An exemplar in extraordinary condition, with very sharp relief, surfaces exceptionally well preserved and an intense original metallic luster that enhances the details of the striking. An attractive issue of Iraqi numismatics from the 20th century, especially notable for its outstanding conservation quality, certified MS67.
