This unique antique brass balance scale is a rare and decorative measuring instrument from the early 20th century, featuring four hanging pans on finely worked chains.

The horizontal arms are designed as ornamental serpents/dragons, a style common on French and Dutch balance models from around 1900–1940, which refers to the craftsmanship of industrial and apothecary scales from that period.

Deze unieke antieke messing balansweegschaal is een zeldzaam en decoratief meetinstrument uit de vroege 20e eeuw, uitgevoerd met vier hangende schalen aan fijn bewerkte kettingen. 

De horizontale armen zijn vormgegeven als ornamentale serpenten/dragons, een stijl die veel voorkomt bij Franse en Nederlandse balansmodellen uit ca. 1900–1940, en die verwijst naar het vakmanschap van industriële en apothekersweegschalen uit die periode.
