Box - Wood

Splendid, authentic tobacco- or trinket box in Black Forest style.

This handmade object dates from the late 19th century and is in a wonderful well-used condition.

The eye-catcher on the box is the hand-carved figure of a bulldog. The dog has a beautifully expressive look with characteristic facets and is equipped with the original two-tone inlaid glass eyes.

The box is crafted with old-fashioned workmanship from solid hardwood (walnut) with a decorative carved pattern around. The corners feature sturdy dovetail joints. The lid closes securely and is fitted with an original brass hinge.

The box is 15 cm wide, 8 cm deep and (including the dog) 9 cm high. The contents of the tray measure 2.5 x 6 x 8 cm. The weight is about 185 grams.
