Description from the seller
EGYPT. Cairo. 5 Piastres. 1939. Farouk I (1936-1952)
- Value: 5 Piastres.
- Reign: Farouk I (1936-1952).
- Year: 1939 (AH 1358).
- Inscriptions: Obverse: فاروق الأول ملك مصر. Reverse: ٥ قروش المملكة المصرية ١٣٥٨ - ١٩٣٩.
- Grading: MS62 (NGC).
Silver 5-Piastre coin with a left-facing portrait of King Farouk I, depicted in a military uniform and fez, in an official, realist-style composition. The reverse presents the face value in Arabic calligraphy at the center, surrounded by an elaborate vegetal ornamentation, together with the dates 1358 AH and 1939 AD. The specimen retains sharp, well-defined relief, with good detail in the portrait, the uniform, the legends and decorative elements; the fields show metallic luster and light surface marks typical of its MS62 (NGC) grade, accompanied by a subtle natural tonality. Struck during the reign of Farouk I, it belongs to the period of the Kingdom of Egypt prior to the 1952 revolution and the subsequent abolition of the monarchy.
