Figure - Dancing faun - Bronze

Finely cast 19th-century bronze sculpture depicting a youthful dancing faun, a mythological companion of Bacchus, the Roman god of wine and revelry. The figure is captured in a spirited pose, with raised arms, animated facial features and finely detailed curling hair. Reflecting the Classical revival popular in Grand Tour and Victorian decorative arts, the sculpture displays a rich, dark bronze patina with warm highlights and natural age-related wear. Raised on an integral stepped square plinth.
