Description from the seller
Raro Motoscafo Vintage Legno ITO / TMY Modello "G 20" - L. 47cm Scala 1:12 - Japan '50s - WORKING
Description:
In this auction is a splendid and very rare example of a wooden runabout toy motorboat, produced in Japan in the 1950s by renowned historic brands of vintage model-making such as ITO. It is the iconic Model G 20. The model boasts a remarkable presence thanks to a hull length of 47 cm in 1:12 scale.
The motorboat is equipped with its original internal electric engine block branded TMY with a double-gear transmission and a premium dual counter-rotating propeller configuration (Twin Screw) with a central metallic rudder bearing the inscription "JAPAN".
MECHANICAL CONDITIONS:
• Fully functional: The internal engine has been tested successfully.
• Realistic ignition from the wheel: The original ignition system is integrated in the dashboard; the engine starts by directly operating the original wheel in the cockpit—one snap on the left side, an engineering gem from the era remarkably preserved.
• The metal lever positioned on the stern mirror acts as a reference for steering adjustment and locking.
CONDITIONS OF APPEARANCE AND CONSERVATION:
The model is completely original, never restored, and preserves all the rare deck accessories of the era: the original wooden/fabric lifebuoy with the stamped word "SPEED BOAT", the intact metallic windshield, the chromed horns, the forward emblem perforated with a star and the complete two-color navigation lights (red and green) with glass lenses.
• Matching Numbers / Model Code: Inside the hull, on the original wood, there is the production inscription "G 20" handwritten at the factory time, a precious identifying detail of the model that certifies its authenticity and the coherence of assembled components.
Signs of aging (Original patina):
As visible in the detailed photos, the original red paint shows some chips and paint loss concentrated symmetrically along the edge of the hull on both sides (right and left), consistent with historical display on a pedestal or era use in the water. The underlying wood is healthy and solid. This honest wear certifies the authenticity and historical value of the piece, which has not undergone any artificial modern retouching.
A piece for serious collectors, exceptionally preserved in its mechanics.
Tracked shipping and professional personalized packaging to protect the hull.
