Description from the seller

Rosenthal studio-linie – Ambrogio Pozzi – Duo (1968) – 5 stackable consommé cups with saucers (Suppentassen) – 1970s design

Porcelain consommé/broth service by Rosenthal studio-linie, belonging to the famous Duo series, designed by the Italian designer Ambrogio Pozzi in 1968.

The Duo model received the Gold Medal from the President of the Republic in the Faenza International Ceramic Competition.

The lot comprises five double-handled cups and five coordinated saucers, for a total of ten pieces.

The service is distinguished by its strict modernist geometries and its original stackable structure, one of the most characteristic aspects of Pozzi's research. The cups can be stacked vertically, forming a compact composition with a strong aesthetic impact.

The very rare decoration features wide olive green and red-orange horizontal bands on a white background, with thin white separating grooves. The two opposite circular handles give the service a highly recognizable graphic identity.

The Duo form represents one of the most significant projects of the Pozzi–Rosenthal collaboration and stands as an example of European ceramic design of the second half of the 20th century.
