Description from the seller

Charles Catteau – Boch Frères Keramis – Large Art Deco vase, D.957 decor

Art Deco ceramic vase glazed by Boch Frères Keramis in La Louvière, with a decoration designed by Charles Catteau (1880-1966).

Model No. 898, featuring the polychrome decor D.957: bouquets of flowers and highly stylized foliage in a palette of cobalt blue, turquoise, green and orange, arranged in large vertical reserves on an ivory background with remarkable crazed glaze.

In an elegant slender baluster form, the vase has an ovoid body slightly swelling, narrowing progressively toward a narrow neck with a flared rim, giving the whole a particularly graceful and balanced silhouette, highlighted by cobalt blue and turquoise lines, and it is especially representative of Charles Catteau’s Art Deco creations for Boch Frères.

The decor D.957 and the model 761 are documented on comparable Boch Frères Keramis examples.
