A unique wooden diorama of a machine, signed by former prisoner of war DEJIMBE R, dating from 1940–1950 and measuring 55 × 26 × 33 cm.
Description from the seller
Unique piece made and signed by DEJIMBE R, former prisoner of war (KG visible on the back of the articulated figure), a prisoner in the Mühlberg labor camp in Germany, Stalag IV-B, where he carried out metallurgical work for German armaments manufacturers! And this with the help of the machine he scrupulously reproduced here after his release from that camp! This diorama is wooden and metal; the machine operates with compressed air injected into the piping to the right of this object, and after making the gears (wood) and the pistons (metal) move, this air is expelled into the air through a metal pipe that exits through the roof! By hand everything works perfectly, but I have not tested it with air! WARNING the drive belts need to be reattached; I stabilized one with white fasteners visible in the photos, and there are a few weld spots to redo on the metal balustrades! Front dimensions 54.5 cm / 33 cm, side height 33 cm, width 26 cm, rear height 21 cm, rear dimensions 54.5 cm / 21 cm. The pod weighs 6.1 kg! Unique piece perfect for a WW2-related collection! Needs a bit more cleaning!
