Description from the seller
Pair of wall sconces in gold-bronze in the Louis XVI style, made in the first half of the 20th century, inspired by the decorative repertoires of French Neoclassicism from the late 18th century. Each piece presents a sober and balanced structure, articulated by a wall body with a faceted profile and topped by a small upper crest crowned by a delicate bow-shaped motif, one of the most characteristic ornamental elements of the Louis XVI taste.
From the main body emerges a curved light arm with elegant movement, ending in a lampshade holder with a circular washer that evokes traditional candleholders. The composition is completed with a lower finial in the form of a pinecone or stylized pinjante, a decorative resource associated with the ideals of symmetry and refinement typical of the Neoclassical language. The surfaces, with restrained ornamentation, stand out for the quality of modeling and for the warm golden hue of the bronze, enriched by a patina acquired over time that adds depth and authenticity to the set.
These luminaires combine the timeless elegance of 18th-century French models with the solidity of decorative manufactures from the first half of the 20th century, resulting in pieces that are versatile and distinguished, ideal for enhancing living rooms, corridors, bedrooms, or classical environments where decorative lighting with palatial inspiration is sought.
