Description from the seller
Lost-wax cast brass alloy artifact — Elegant statuette in brass depicting Buddha Shakyamuni (Siddhartha Gautama), the historical Buddha and central figure of the Buddhist tradition. The Buddha is depicted seated in a meditative position atop an elaborate lotus throne, a symbol of purity and spiritual awakening. The figure features the characteristic elements of Buddhist iconography, including elongated earlobes and the ushnisha, the symbolic protuberance atop the head associated with wisdom and enlightenment. The right hand is raised with the palm outward in a ritual gesture related to Abhaya Mudra, traditionally associated with protection, reassurance, and the absence of fear. The left hand rests in a composed position on the lap. Particularly decorative is the base, consisting of a double succession of finely molded lotus petals. The harmonious lines of the robe, the serene expression of the face, and the warm golden tone of the brass give the sculpture a balanced and elegant appearance. A refined object of Oriental decorative art, interesting both for a collection dedicated to Buddhist culture and iconography and as a furnishing element for contemporary, ethnic, or meditation-dedicated environments.
