Description from the seller
Authentic English Victorian-era Davenport desk, acquired from antiques dealer Wanda Verrière at Village Suisse in Paris in 1968.
A compact and highly decorative workpiece, in dark wood with contrasting burl veneers arranged in a geometric pattern. The upper section opens with two doors to a compartmented interior including pigeonholes and small drawers. The lower part features a drawer in the base and several lateral drawers concealed behind a door. Architectural pedestal with openwork consoles.
The original 1968 invoice is preserved and explicitly mentions “an English Davenport from the Victorian era.”
Old condition with patina, signs of use, and small veneer nicks visible in the photographs. No recent restoration intended to mask the passage of time.
